If you want pool resurfacing in Woolgoolga, we pass your enquiry to a local contractor, who carries out the work. This page gives the census facts for the suburb and the wider Woolgoolga and Arrawarra area, what they do and do not tell you, and the questions to settle before a pool is resurfaced, recoated or renovated.
Woolgoolga at the 2021 Census
The ABS counted 6,151 people in Woolgoolga, with a median age of 45 (ABS QuickStats for Woolgoolga). There were 2,765 private dwellings, of which 2,325 were occupied. Of homes, 82.2 per cent were separate houses, 43.8 per cent were owned outright, the highest share in the set of places we cover, and 29.2 per cent were rented. Median weekly household income was below the median for the Coffs Harbour council area (ABS QuickStats for the council area), an ABS 2021 comparison and an affordability signal, not a pool signal.
The wider Woolgoolga and Arrawarra area
The statistical area called Woolgoolga and Arrawarra is more than twice the suburb's size, with 14,463 people and a median age of 43 (ABS QuickStats for the area).
| At the 2021 Census | Woolgoolga (suburb) | Woolgoolga and Arrawarra (SA2) |
|---|---|---|
| People | 6,151 | 14,463 |
| Median age | 45 | 43 |
| Private dwellings | 2,765 | 6,457 |
| Occupied dwellings | 2,325 | 5,365 |
| Separate houses | 82.2 per cent | 89.4 per cent |
| Owned outright | 43.8 per cent | 42.0 per cent |
| Rented | 29.2 per cent | 24.8 per cent |
Housing in the wider area is more heavily separate houses and less often rented. As elsewhere, ABS gives no pool counts, so we cannot say how many of those houses have a pool.
Berry farms, jobs and what they mean for a pool
Berry fruit growing leads employment among Woolgoolga residents at 11.6 per cent, well ahead of aged care residential services at 3.2 per cent. The economy.id profile (economy.id area profile) describes the whole council area as predominantly rural. None of this says anything about pools. If your property is on a larger block, tell the contractor early about access for equipment and ask the council where pool water can go before the pool is emptied.

Weighing a coating against other finishes
Household income below the council area median is an affordability signal only, but it is a fair reason to understand coatings as one option among several. The painting and epoxy coatings page compares chlorinated rubber, acrylic and epoxy products by what their data sheets say. Two points are worth knowing first. One acrylic and one epoxy data sheet say the coatings do not bridge moving cracks, and a trade magazine says pool paints are non-structural and unsuitable for cracked or leaking pools. So what is wrong with the shell decides whether a coating is the right job, and a contractor has to inspect it.
The comparison guide sets coatings beside pebblecrete, quartz and tile. For pebblecrete in particular, see the pebblecrete and quartz page.
Weather for Woolgoolga jobs
We found no Woolgoolga weather record. The nearest figures we use are from the two Coffs Harbour stations on the city page, and we do not claim they describe Woolgoolga. Coatings data sheets set minimum application temperatures and ask for rain-free days, so ask the contractor which sheet applies and how it will be checked against the day. The timing guide has the detail.
Renting, rules and who to ask
Nearly three in ten Woolgoolga homes were rented. The NSW Swimming Pool Register page says registration plus a certificate of compliance, or an occupation certificate, is needed to lease (NSW Swimming Pool Register information). Coffs Harbour City Council's pool page covers new pools and the register but not resurfacing an existing pool or emptying it (council pool page). Ask the council before the pool is emptied and the council or a certifier when the barrier or access is touched.
NSW Government pages list pool surfacing and surface coatings inside the swimming pool repairs and servicing category and say a licence or certificate is needed for that category. The licence, contract and warranty page sets out what the pages say. Draining and dust are on the draining and dust page. For renovation works, see renovation and retiling. The next places along the coast are Korora and Moonee Beach, and the home page covers the whole area.
What this page cannot tell you
It cannot tell you how many pools there are in Woolgoolga, how old they are or what finish they have. We found no sourced history, distance or weather record for the town, so we give none. Employment figures describe where residents work, not their pools. The page cannot say whether a coating will suit your pool, or whether the council requires approval to resurface an existing one, because its pool page does not address that. Ask the contractor and the council.
Check the current rules before you rely on this
This page describes Woolgoolga and the wider Woolgoolga and Arrawarra area, using census figures and the council and register pages. It describes the rules in general terms as they stood in November 2026. Standards, forms, thresholds and fines change.
The authoritative sources are ABS 2021 Census QuickStats, Woolgoolga (suburb), ABS 2021 Census QuickStats, Woolgoolga - Arrawarra (SA2), ABS 2021 Census QuickStats, Coffs Harbour local government area, Coffs Harbour City Council, swimming pool approval and safety requirements and NSW Swimming Pool Register, information. Where anything here differs from those sources, they are right and we are not.
We are not pool contractors, builders, regulators or lawyers. For what applies to your job, ask the contractor which licence or certificate they hold and check it on the NSW licence check, then ask Building Commission NSW (13 27 00). Ask Coffs Harbour City Council about emptying the pool, registration and the pool barrier, and SafeWork NSW about dust and chemicals.
